The Beginners Guide To Yoni Eggs

What Does the Word "Yoni" Mean?

The word "yoni" is a Sanskrit term that is often used in Hinduism to refer to the female sexual organs, such as the "vagina," "vulva," and "uterus." It can also be interpreted to mean the "womb," "source,".

Using the term "yoni" instead is a way to reclaim and honor the sacredness of this part of a woman's body, and to acknowledge her connection to femininity, creativity, and lifeforce energy.

By using the term "yoni," we are able to alter the narrative around this part of the body from one of shame and taboo to one of  love ,reverence and empowerment. It is a way to celebrate and honor the beauty and power of the female reproductive system, and to recognize and acknowledge its importance in the overall health and wellbeing of women.

What Is A Yoni Egg?

Yoni eggs are typically made of crystals or glass, such as Nephrite Jade, Obsidian, Rose Quartz, or Amethyst etc, are shaped as an egg, and come in 3 different sizes.Yoni eggs are used to perform kegel exercises, which involve contracting and releasing the pelvic floor muscles. By using a yoni egg, the weight resistance helps to strengthen and tone the pelvic floor muscles, which can provide a huge variety of benefits, including improved bladder control, enhanced vaginal lubrication, increased libido, and assist in postpartum recovery,to name a few.

The use of yoni eggs is believed to have originated from ancient China over two thousand years ago, where this practice started at the request of the emperor for the empress and concubines to strengthen their reproductive organs while preserving youth and vitality.

It's important to note that using a yoni egg requires proper cleaning and care to prevent infection, and it should not be used as a replacement for medical treatment. It's also important to consult with a healthcare provider before using a yoni egg, if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.

How Often Should I Use My Yoni Egg?

I suggest wearing a yoni egg three times a week for approximately 15 minutes to a few hours a day to receive the best results.

When Should I NOT use a yoni egg?

It is important to note that yoni eggs may not be suitable for everyone.

Individuals with a hypertonic pelvic floor ,should avoid using yoni eggs before consulting a professional ,as it may exacerbate their condition. The same goes for those with vaginismus, a condition where the pelvic floor muscles involuntarily contract, making penetration difficult or uncomfortable.

For pregnant woman, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare provider before using yoni eggs. While some woman who already have developed a yoni egg practice, may choose to wear it during pregnancy, it is important to prioritize safety and listen to your body's intuition.

Additionally, it is not advised to use yoni eggs during your bleed, as it can block the flow of blood. Those with vaginal infections like thrush, UTI, or bacterial vaginosis should also avoid using yoni eggs until the infection has cleared up.

It is important to note that while yoni eggs provide benefits for many woman, they are not a substitute for medical treatment or advice from a healthcare provider.

What Size Is Best For Me?

If you are interested in trying out yoni eggs, it is important to choose the right type of egg to start with.A medium-sized, drilled Nephrite Jade egg is a good option for beginners. Jade has been traditionally used in China and is believed to be a grounding and balancing stone. Additionally, it is known for its strength and density, making it a durable option for those who are new to the practice.

Choosing a drilled yoni egg is also recommended for beginners as it comes with a hole that allows you to tie through an eco wax string for easy removal. This can provide peace of mind, as it removes the fear of not being able to retrieve the egg after use.

There are many different types of yoni eggs available on the market, made from various crystal such as black obsidian, rose quartz, and Jade etc. Each type of crystal egg has its own unique energetic properties and benefits, so it is important choose one that resonates with you. Please also note that not all crystal is suitable to insert into the body ,this is why it is recommended that you purchase your yoni eggs from a reliable, trustworthy source.

It is also recommended to clean the egg thoroughly before and after each use, using warm water and a mild, natural soap. Additionally, it is important to never share your yoni egg with others to prevent the spread of bacteria and infections.

Choosing the right yoni egg and taking proper care of it will provide a safe and enjoyable experience for those interested in exploring this ancient practice.

How To Insert My Yoni Egg?

Find a comfortable and relaxing position, this may be sitting ,squatting or laying down.
With your eyes closed, begin to take deep relaxing breaths and deepen your connection with focus on your yoni.
Position the egg upside down with the larger side of the egg pointing upward and the pointer end downward.
Consciously relax the vagina and vaginal opening.(relaxing your jaw will help with this).
Gently massage the vulva with the egg, moving the egg up and down the length of the labia, and over the clitoris. This will awaken and stimulate your yoni ,and begin to warm up the yoni egg to body temperature. This leads to being aroused, you may have produced vaginal wetness to lubricate the egg for insertion, should you feel you need more, you can use any oil or water based lube of your choice. I find using natural coconut oil to be best.
Slowly twist and turn the egg until it is fully inserted into the vagina.
Yoni practice is about self-love and connecting with your body. Listen to your yoni and don't force the insertion of your egg if your body isn't ready to accept it.

If your yoni is not ready to accept the egg at this time, spend more time massaging and stimulating the vulva and allow it to be a slow, sensual process.

How To Remove My Egg?.

It is important to note that the yoni egg CANNOT get lost or stuck inside the vagina as the cervix acts as a barrier preventing the egg from entering the uterus. However, some individuals may experience difficulty removing the egg, especially if they are new to the practice. This is why i would always recommend that beginners to the practice start with a drilled egg.

To remove the egg, gently pull on the string that is tied through the drilled hole or use your finger to scoop it out. If you are having difficulty, you can try squatting down in the shower and relaxing your muscles. You can also try bearing down as if having a bowel movement or urinating, which can help to push the egg out.

It is important to never force the egg out to remove it, as this can cause injury or damage to the delicate tissues of the vagina. Once you completely relax the vaginal muscles the egg will make its way out.

How To Use Your Yoni Egg?

It is important to mention that it is totally normal in the start of your yoni egg practice to not feel the egg inside you, this will improve over time with your practice as you become more intune and connected to your yoni.

The Yoni egg practice is simple and easy. Here are three ways to wear your Yoni egg:

1.Concsiously wearing your egg for A daily 15 minute "Yoni Egg Yoga" practice - AKA doing your kegels (pelvic floor exercises) in a series of exercises.

2. Inserting the Yoni egg and simply walking around the house and getting on with your day. The weight of the egg and the gravity will create resistance, meaning there will be benefits for the pelvic floor muscles even if you don’t do your kegels (squeezes). Just make sure you wear your underwear in case it falls out.

3. Sleeping with it in. Some women insert the egg and it falls straight out! This is totally normal, especially if you’ve had vaginal births. If this happens, start with having it in while you’re laying down, sitting or sleeping. The muscles will begin to gain memory & familiarity with having a weight internally.

If your Yoni egg pops out after using it for a very short period of time (5 minutes): cup your hands over your vulva, take a few deep breaths ,relax and feel in as to whether you want to reinsert or not. It is always ok to leave it and try again tomorrow!

How Often Do I Wear My Yoni Egg?

We suggest using your Yoni Egg at least three times a week for at least 15 minutes to experience ultimate results. Many woman have a daily yoni egg practice, you can slowly build it up ,if you are wanting to create a daily practice.

Once a week or once a month may not produce much change in your pelvic floor, orgasm, or sensitivity.

What Sized Egg should I Begin With?

In general, Yoni eggs that are medium sized are ideal for most woman, so I recommend starting with a medium size to avoid confusion. However, this is not always a one size fits all approach.

Small sizes are best for women who have never had sex or who have smaller vaginas. A smaller shaped egg means the vagina must contract more to hold it up, resulting in more toning for women who want to advance their practice.

If you have given birth multiple times or want to feel a heavier weight internally, a large Yoni egg size may be a better fit.

Generally, if you have any lower abdominal cramping, this usually means that the egg is to large and encourage you to drop to a smaller size.

Caring For Your Yoni Egg Hygienically and Energetically.

Wash your yoni egg before and after use with a chemical-free soap or essential oil(lavender or tea tree oil), making sure the drilled hole is clear and not harboring bacteria. Warm soapy water is fine to use in between uses, but avoid using direct boiling hot water as this may cause the crystal to crack. It is also important to energetically cleanse your egg regularly, as crystals absorb energy. This can be done by :
- leaving it to charge under a full moon or New Moon.
- Rinsing or soaking in salty water(in the ocean).
- leaving it in salt crystals overnight.
- Smudging with a sage stick or incense stick.
- leaving it in the sunshine (not too long or it might fade), or wrapping it in cotton and burying it in the earth.

To set an intention into your Yoni egg, simply close your eyes, place your crystal in your hands or against your heart, and feel into an authentic intention that rises up for you. Store your Yoni egg in a safe place inside its pouch and store somewhere high up so little hands cannot reach it. It is also important to note that if you are pregnant or menstruating, it is best to err on the side of caution and either not use the egg at all or use it for a minimal amount of time.

Keeping your Yoni egg in a safe and private place is important to maintain its cleanliness and energy. Here are some additional tips for storing your Yoni egg:

Before storing your Yoni egg, make sure to clean it properly with warm water and mild soap. You can also use a natural disinfectant like vinegar, lavender oil, or tea tree oil.

Keep it dry: Make sure to dry your Yoni egg completely before storing it. Moisture can cause bacteria to grow and compromise the energy of the stone.

Use the pouch provided: Your Yoni egg will come with a pouch and a box for storage. Use it to protect your Yoni egg from scratches, dust, and other external factors that can affect its energy.

Store in a safe and private place: Choose a safe and private place to store your Yoni egg where it won't be disturbed or touched by others. A high shelf or a drawer in your bedroom is a good option.

Charge it regularly: You can place your Yoni egg on your altar or under the moonlight to recharge its energy. Make sure to cleanse it before and after charging to maintain its purity.

Remember, your Yoni egg is a sacred tool that should be treated with respect and care. By following these tips, you can keep it safe and maintain its energy for a long time.
